01_testing_K2010Sep24 - Track Definition, track/fiber and zoomed 2-D plot

From Mike's Trip Plan Document:
Kaiser/Apogee
System includes:

System’s last use: 20-May-2008 in the Cal Hut, HI, by M.Yarbrough, including pen-lamp wavelength cals, OL455 scans with/without HI/LOW-pass filters, and HeNe laser - see SF doc: “Documentation of the May 2008 Kaiser Tests.pdf”.

Prior use: 17:31-Oct-2007, in the Cal Hut, HI, by M.Yarbrough, with CCD A6491 only via OL455 for ambient / bias / shutter / stability tests (?)

Last field use:
13:17-Jun-2007 during Oahu12 on the K.Wyrtki via the shadow fork (disc dia: 0 to 32 cm), and 22-Jun-2007 during MOBY-L147 from the K.O.K. via shadow fork (w/ MOBY Lu head). Calibrations were 11:27-Jun-2007 via HgA, Ne, LED flashlight via Labsphere Spectralon sphere, Ocean Optics LS450 white LED, OL420(L9).

All filters were removed, no cut-off or order sorting filters.

Track Definitions:
Track Center (Pixel): 15 35 60 87 119 155 191 227
Track Width (Pixel): 9 11 14 13 18 18 18 18

The grey lines show the track definitions. Steve wanted the tracks very close to each other to maximize the cross track problem. Most of the track but right up to each other.

Figure 1

The arrow points to a knotch seen in Track 4 on day 1. Some one mentioned the fiber might be broken or maybe needed cleaning. MikeF cleaned the fibers, have not taken another image to see if the knotch is still there.

Figure 2

This shows the approximate track widths. Looks like there are 3 difference widths of fiber.

Note from June 2007 Kaiser Trip: it looks like the romack bundle used had (4x800um & 2x400um & 2x200um): track 1 and 2 were 200 microns, Tracks 3-4 were 400 micron and track 5-6 were 800 microns. But collimator were used after the fiber so does it matter?

Figure 3

A zoomed in view of image across tracks.
