Ken wanted to use the Oriel lamp data to get a rough cal on the BS2 system. Ken only wanted to look at the shape of the response within on track. I.E. not compare one track to another or get an absolute cal. Since the spectral shape of the lamp should not change a huge amount using an older OL420 lamp file I calculated a system response. After talking to Mike to check with him the said the Oriel lamp was not calibrated and that he has used it on low power mode so the color temperatue could be off. So the graphs below show the spectral shape of the OL420 lamp I used and then interpolated the lamp data to the BS2 wavelengths. I then divided the signal by the lamp data to get the system response. This should give a rough idea of the shape of the response for each track.

Ken asked me to take the rough relative responses and multiply byt the in-water and Es MOBY data to get a relative signal for each track. Panel 1 is the rough relative response, using a Oriel uncaled lamp on low power mode and the Ol420 lamp 10 cal file. The data was collected using bare fibers. And Mike said the distance from the lamp was not exact. So the Y-axis on panel 1 and 3 dont mean anything. The middle panel is the MOBY data begin multiplied by the rough response. In had to interpolate the MOBY data to the 1024 wavelengths of the BS2 spec before multiplying. And panel 3 is the result. This shows the approximate shape of the signal on the BS2 spec. You can not compare tracks here only the relative spectral shape from one end of a tracl to the other.
