Effect of removing features from SPR - in-water converted - BLUE SPECTROGRAPH

Mike had the idea to create SPR with different features removed. So I wrote a program to do that now I want to SLC some in-water LuTOp data and apply a SLCed system response and see the effect. So that what follows.

Thanks for the SPRs Steph!

I had this thought on my drive in today:
to understand the contribution of the N components of SL,
i.e.

  • 1.) haze off in-band response
  • 2.) main reflection peak
  • 3.) double humps
  • 4.) large humps

    perhaps "we" could build N x SPR's,
    where the "real" SPR_total = sum[ SPR_N ],
ex: SPR_1 = just #1 haze via a TableCurve fit,
SPR_2 = just your interpolated refl. peak, etc.
Then we correct via the individual SPRs and
ratio to uncorrected to see the effect.

For the odd buoy the only features to remove are the reflection peak and large bump.

Standard plot showing the change from the uncor to the old cor to the new cor as reference.

    Figure 1

This shows the LuTop data SLCed with the original complete SPR compared to LuTop data SLCed using modified SPR.

  • RP = reflection peak removed
  • LB = large bump removed
  • BG = SLC created from background only
  • Rmv All = All features removed (not the same as background only)

Wow the large bump has a HUGE affect in the red and the reflection peak is the "problem" in the UV!!

    Figure 2

This shows the efect of removing the reflection peak. I think I am surprised how large the effect is in the UV.

    Figure 3

This shows the efect of removing the large bump. The largest effect is in the red. Also the shape of the corred data is more like the old SLC.

    Figure 4

This shows the efect of removing all features and using the background. Similar to the large bump, HHmmm.

    Figure 5

This shows the efect of removing all features. Similar to the large bump and background only.
