CRUISE | DATES | LOCATION |
MOBY-L69 | 01-Jun-2001 - 04-Jun-2001 | Lanai |
Description: MOBY replacement cruise via R/V K.O.K.: MOBY217 was deployed without incident on the 1st of June, 2001 but the weather changed late that afternoon and we were not able to recover MOBY216 - it was placed under tow for the night. On June 2nd, MOBY216 was successfully recovered, MLML and NOAA divers deployed the WARS camera and rocker-stoppers while T. Houlihan, M. Feinholz and E. Stengel (NOAA) removed the battery rack and controller box from the MET station. Houlihan and Yarbrough troubleshot the MET controller and power system aboard ship that night while we steamed back to Snug Harbor where we unloaded MOBY216 and miscellaneous buoy deployment/recovery equipment. Station 01 operations commenced early the morning of June 3rd at the Lanai MOBY Mooring site - RADS, MOS, FOS, and Satlantic optical profiling ensued while HRA divers and Yarbrough acquired initial diver calibrations on MOBY217. Late in the day Houlihan replaced the repaired MET stations battery system. Station #02 on the 4th saw shipboard optical profiles, WARS camera retrieval, and the repair of the witness buoy marker light. |
