Description: The R/V Klaus Wyrtki was used for daily cruises which left and returned to Snug Harbor 13 to 16 June. A new multi-fiber optic spectrometer system was developed for the purpose of conducting clear water instrument shadowing experiments. This system was deployed acquiring the upwelled radiances as a function of a variety of disk diameters which would simulate the instrument shadowing problem. A PVC pitch-fork was constructed which accommodated up to 6 fiber optic radiance measurements. The system preformed remarkably well in rough sea conditions. A few MicroPro profiles were made to compare upwelled radiance attenuation and water-leaving radiances. CTD and scatterometer time-series measurements were made to check for stability of in-water optical properties. |
