CRUISE DATES LOCATION
MOBY-L248 31-Mar-2016 - 01-Apr-2016 Lanai
Description: MOBY-L248: 31 Mar-2016 MOBY Maintenance Cruise: On 31 March, underwater photos were taken of MOBY260 and before cleaning diver calibrations were done. The flopper-stopper bridle appeared to be okay. On 01 April, MOBY260 was cleaned, after cleaning diver calibrations were done and the anti-fouling tubes were recharged. Es bird spike was installed.
Details: I put some files on the ftp site from this last trip, /home/ftp/pub/moby/Terry/MOBY-L248_160330. It was a partially successful trip. The GoPro underwater photos of the clean and dirty Lu collectors didn’t work. The photos were taken but it appears the flashlight wasn’t working even though it was on when the camera went underwater and I thought it was on when I got the camera back from Steve. Some look like they were out of focus as well which really doesn’t make sense. The video Mark requested of the depth of the tether where it attaches to the buoy are on the site, they are the .MP4 files. My first attempt at attaching the camera to the tether with cable ties didn’t work, small bungee cords would have been a better idea and I will bring some along on the next trip. I did get video from the boat and you can tell where the tether rides relative to the surface, at least with calm seas as we had on that day. There are also Steve’s regular photos and a pdf of the paper log files I record to keep track of the process. We were still working out some of the bugs with the updated Falcon computer commands and it restarted during the first set of BLu dirty cals. We wasted a battery recovering from that and finished the MLu and TLu with a different battery. We ran another set of dirty Lu’s and since we only had one battery left I only ran one set of dirty Ed’s. I may be able to explain that better over the phone if you are confused. The first set of clean BLu’s on the next day may have had an issue as Steve reported that the lamp may have come loose due to bungee issues. The arm compass heading was 312º at 2250 gmt on 3/31, 286º at 2042 on 4/1 and 315º at 2141 also on 4/1.The photos from MBBY_L247 are on the site under the appropriate directory. Terry
