Description: MOBY-L343: 4 Aug 2023 MOBY Maintenance Cruise: The trip to the buoy on Friday did not go well. The winds and the current were up although I checked with HRA the night before and the morning I arrived and was told they would be fine. The divers provided were not appropriate for the drogue replacement work and neither was the boat. In the process of deploying the diver to attach the line to tie off we broke a solar panel. There was no contact with the upper arm. The divers were having difficulty swimming against the current and also having difficulty identifying the work that needed to be done at the drogue attachment point on the buoy can. We decided the conditions were too difficult to continue and stood by to see if they would improve. After about an hour of no let up in the winds or current we chose to cut our losses and returned to the pier. To sum up the drogue is still attached with one leg as before and we are down one solar panel. We have a hurricane passing by south of the islands in a couple of days which could mean more swell and winds. We should wait until that passes and we may get a window of calmer weather. Wish I had better news for you,
